Marmara University Journal of Turkology (MUJOT), is an open access, biannual peer-reviewed academic journal publishing articles in Turkish, English and Russian. The main purpose of the journal is to bring scientific articles about Turkic World particularly in the fields of language, culture, literature, history, folklore, geography and art to the attention of the academic world.

MUJOT also publishes historiographic studies, archival and monographic source publications, scholarly translation and transcriptions, bibliography and chronologies, book and thesis reviews, interviews and obituary studies along with announcements about related subjects.
The audience of MUJOT is comprised of academics, researchers, professionals, teachers and students as well as academic institutions and foundations.

The works sent to MUJOT are first examined according to the journal’s writing rules, the second phase is the review by the editor regarding the compliance with the journal’s aim and scope. Next comes the blind review process by two referees. If one referee opinion is positive and the other is negative, the work can be sent to a third referee or the editorial board, expert board member or the editor can make the final decision by evaluating the reports. Referee evaluation reports are stored for a five years period. Author(s) shall take referee, editorial board, expert board member or the editor’s opinions, advices and evaluations into consideration. Authors(s) are expected to comply with the appointed changes studiously. If there arises a disagreement about the imposed changes, the author(s) have the right to object with reasons, -the final say belongs to the editor/editorial board in such matters- or to withdraw their works. The announcement of evaluation results does not exceed three months. The works are to be published only after the changes/comments of the referee and/or the editor are implemented by the author(s).

Marmara University Journal of Turkology (MUJOT) – aims to publish interdisciplinary competent studies related to various fields exploring the Turkic world in terms of linguistics, literature, culture, history, folklore, geography and art. Each manuscript is assessed first in terms of compliance with the writing rules of the journal; then reviewed by the editor and two referees under double-blind peer review process.
It is expected that the academic works sent to MUJOT are original studies that introduce novel research results or studies contributing to the field by discussing and re-evaluating existing literature. MUJOT aims to provide a professional standard along with high ethics regarding its published articles.
MUJOT is an internationally refereed journal published biannually in accordance with the ethical principles below:
- All submitted works must be original, unpublished and not under the review of any other journal. Proceedings that were presented in academic meetings, congresses, workshops or symposiums before can be accepted under certain conditions. Those are; such situation must be indicated clearly, it was not printed full-text (in the proceedings book), it is updated with revisions, and re-formatted into an article form with its content.
- Any contributions by other authors must be appropriately credited and all sources must be cited.
- Copyrighted material (e.g. tables, figures, images, or extensive quotations) must be reproduced only with appropriate permission and acknowledgement.
- Situations such as manipulating, distorting, using fabricated data, plagiarism, duplication, salami-slicing, avoiding naming sponsor organizations, unfair authorship etc. are accepted as ethical violations. If one or more of such ethical violations are detected, the editorial process is stopped and the application is rejected.
- It is the authors’ responsibility to ensure that submitted manuscripts are in accordance with scientific and ethical standards. Authors must guarantee the originality of their work and that the submitted manuscript has not been published in any other journal before and is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere or in other language.
- All submitted manuscripts are evaluated without regard to authors’ race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual choice, religious belief, nationality or political orientation.
- Editor provides a fair double-blind peer review of submitted works and ensures that all the information related to submitted works is kept as confidential before publishing. Editor is responsible for the contents and overall quality of the publication and can ask authors to make improvements and corrections. Editor also can publish errata pages when needed. Editor has the full authority to assign a reviewer and is responsible for final decision for publication of the submitted manuscript.

MUJOT has the author’s right of all publications in the journal and they are not to be published elsewhere or not quoted completely or partially without proper citation. No fee is charged by MUJOT during both evaluation and publication processes. No author’s right payment is rendered to the author(s) as well.
